Bicycle accident lawyer

Representing cyclists hurt by careless drivers across Los Angeles and Southern California.

Cyclists share the road with drivers who don’t always look for them. When that leads to a crash, the cyclist takes the hit.

Adrian Law Firm represents bicyclists hit by passing cars, turning drivers and opening doors across Burbank, Los Angeles and Southern California. Like riders on motorcycles, cyclists are often blamed before anyone looks at the facts. We show what really happened and pursue the full value of your claim.

Bicycle crashes we handle

  • Unsafe passing. Drivers must give a cyclist at least three feet when passing (Vehicle Code § 21760).
  • Dooring. Opening a car door into traffic when it isn’t safe (Vehicle Code § 22517).
  • Turning and right-hook crashes. Drivers who turn across a cyclist without checking or signaling (Vehicle Code §§ 22107, 22108).
  • Distracted drivers. Drivers on a phone without a hands-free setup (Vehicle Code § 23123).
  • Hit-and-run. If the driver fled or had no insurance, the uninsured motorist coverage on your own auto policy may pay for your injuries.

What we do for you

  1. Handle the insurance companies. We talk to the adjusters so you don’t give a statement that can be used against you.
  2. Prove how it happened. Photos, witnesses, damage to your bike and the Vehicle Code sections the driver broke.
  3. Get you treated. We make sure every injury is treated and documented.
  4. Recover the full value. Pain and suffering, lost wages, medical costs, and your bike and gear.

Compensation we pursue

  • Pain & suffering
  • Lost wages
  • Past & future medical costs
  • Lost or damaged property
  • Other special damages

I have nothing but high praises for Scott Adrian. Trustworthy, knowledgeable, efficient, quality and PROFESSIONAL! What a relief it is to have someone who listens and understands all your concerns. I couldn't recommend him more.

Michael S.

I reached out to Scott after we met a few years ago at a bike meet. Extremely professional, asked a lot of questions, was very thorough, and courteous the entire time we interacted. I thought the settlement he negotiated was fair for my injuries. I would definitely use Scott for all my needs!

Questions about bicycle accidents

How much room does a driver have to give a cyclist?

At least three feet when passing (Vehicle Code § 21760). If there isn’t room, the driver must slow down and pass only when it is safe.

Who pays for my bike and gear?

Damage to your bicycle, helmet and gear is part of your claim, along with medical costs, lost wages and pain and suffering.

What if the driver says I came out of nowhere?

That is a common defense. We use photos, witnesses, the damage to the bike and, when needed, reconstruction experts to show what really happened.

How long do I have to file a bicycle accident claim?

In most California personal injury cases, a lawsuit must be filed within two years of the injury (Code of Civil Procedure § 335.1). If a city, county or state vehicle was involved, a written claim usually has to be filed with that agency within six months (Government Code § 911.2). Deadlines can differ, so it's best to call early. Your consultation is free.
