Motorcycle accident lawyer

A fellow rider fighting for injured motorcyclists in Burbank, Los Angeles and across California.

Motorcyclists are 28 times more likely to die and four times more likely to be injured in a crash than people in cars or trucks. Then they face bias in the courtroom, too.

Scott Adrian rides. He meets riders at bike nights and motorcycle events, he wrote “Liability Issues in Motorcycle Collisions” for The Advocate (July 2024), and the firm’s biggest results come from motorcycle cases, including $1,000,000 for a rider hit by a commercial vehicle in the San Gabriel Valley.

Riders are often blamed before anyone looks at the facts. Our job is to show what really happened, keep that bias out of your case, and recover the full value of what you lost.

Motorcycle crashes we handle

  • Left turns and lane changes. Drivers who turn across a rider’s path or drift out of their lane without checking (Vehicle Code §§ 21658, 22107).
  • Lane-sharing crashes. Lane splitting is legal in California (Vehicle Code § 21658.1). Drivers may not block or impede a rider (§ 22400) or open a door into one (§ 22517).
  • Commercial, delivery and city trucks. Our largest motorcycle results came from crashes with commercial and city vehicles.
  • Hit-and-run crashes. If the driver fled or had no insurance, the uninsured motorist coverage on your own auto policy may pay for your injuries.
  • Canyon and mountain roads. Crashes on roads like the Angeles Crest Highway and Azusa’s mountain roads.

How we build a motorcycle case

  1. Name the rule the driver broke. We point to the exact Vehicle Code sections and California Highway Patrol guidelines the other driver violated, not just a vague claim of carelessness.
  2. Bring in the right experts. Accident reconstruction experts who know motorcycles: sport bikes, cruisers and adventure bikes, ABS and traction control.
  3. Keep the bias out. We fight to keep loaded terms like “crotch rocket” out of the courtroom and show jurors a rider who wore the right gear.
  4. Document every injury. Road rash, bruises and blackouts are easy to overlook. We make sure each one is photographed and counted.

Compensation we pursue

  • Pain & suffering
  • Lost wages
  • Past & future medical costs
  • Lost or damaged property
  • Other special damages

What our clients say

I met Scott at a bike night and several other motorcycle events before. Never thought I would ever have to use his services until I was involved in a hit and run accident. Glad I kept his contact information. This was easy because it was on a shirt he gave away at one of the events. Scott helped me with every step of the process from start to finish. He made sure I was taken care of medically on my road to recovery and was able to get me great compensation in the end. If you're involved in an accident call Scott at Adrian Law Firm. It doesn't hurt to ask. He's a fellow rider that understands us, very easy to talk to and gives back to the riding community.

Thanks again for your help and support Scott! It's nice to be back on two wheels.

I reached out to Scott after we met a few years ago at a bike meet. Extremely professional, asked a lot of questions, was very thorough, and courteous the entire time we interacted. I thought the settlement he negotiated was fair for my injuries. I would definitely use Scott for all my needs!

Questions about motorcycle accidents

Is lane splitting legal in California?

Yes. Since January 1, 2017, Vehicle Code § 21658.1 has recognized lane splitting (also called lane sharing or filtering) between rows of stopped or moving vehicles. The California Highway Patrol’s guidelines suggest riding no more than 10 mph faster than traffic, and drivers may not block or impede a rider.

Can I still recover if the insurance company says I was partly at fault?

Often, yes. California follows pure comparative negligence: your compensation is reduced by your share of fault, not erased. That is why insurers look for any admission, and why we push back on weak speed and fault arguments.

What should I keep after a motorcycle crash?

Keep your damaged helmet, jacket, gloves and other gear, and take photos of the bike, the scene and every injury, including road rash and bruises. Showing the gear you wore helps answer the questions jurors ask about riders.

Is Scott Adrian a rider?

Yes. Scott is a fellow rider who gives back to the riding community, and many of our clients first met him at bike nights and motorcycle events.

How long do I have to file a motorcycle accident claim?

In most California personal injury cases, a lawsuit must be filed within two years of the injury (Code of Civil Procedure § 335.1). If a city, county or state vehicle was involved, a written claim usually has to be filed with that agency within six months (Government Code § 911.2). Deadlines can differ, so it's best to call early. Your consultation is free.
